Located in Bué (18300), near Sancerre, the Domaine la Grande Maison has existed for 5 generations.
In 1983, the estate specialized in the production and marketing of wines when Pierre CHAUMEAU and his son Jean Pierre CHAUMEAU created the "SCEV CHAUMEAU BALLAND et fils". They named the estate by association of the birth names of the parents of Jean-Pierre, CHAUMEAU and BALLAND.
The year 1983 marked a turning point in the history of the estate, with its extension, the acquisition of new plantations and the construction of buildings to market more bottles.
In 2008, following the death of Jean Pierre CHAUMEAU, Sylvie his wife took over the estate and since then has been responsible for producing and marketing the wine.
Recently graduated, their children Alex and Anaïs work the terroir and wines alongside Sylvie on an area of 14ha of planted vines, in order to produce Sancerre Blanc, Rouge and Rosé. The estate has 11ha planted with the Sauvignon Blanc grape and 3 ha with the Pinot Noir grape.
The main terroirs on which the vines are planted are caillottes / grillotes, marls and flints in no less than 6 different municipalities. These soils and these exposures shape the expression of character of the estate's wines. Sometimes mineral, white flowers or citrus for white wines. Red and black fruit for red wines.
