Golden Moon Distillery – Maison De La Vie, Ltd. was founded by Stephen Gould and Karen Knight in early 2008 specifically to produce premium hand-crafted herbal liquors and liqueurs using the best available herbs, spices and botanicals, and made with the same type of artisan production processes utilized by distillers making premium products in the mid-to-late 1800s.
The heart of Golden Moon Distillery is Mr. Gould’s world-class research library containing hundreds of rare books on distillation and related products and processes, some dating back to the 1500s. Most of the collection dates from the late 1700s to the early 1900s, though there are a few titles that are much older, or newer.
Maison De La Vie currently has four antique stills at our pilot plant in Golden.

Golden Moon Gin
Golden Moon Gin is distilled using the finest herbs, spices and botanicals available, including wild-crafted mint and juniper berries, and locally grown herbs and botanicals from the Front Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains near Golden Colorado. Compared to other artisan gins, Golden Moon is unique and distinctive. It has a highly floral aroma and a gentle refined taste. It is smooth enough to drink neat and bold enough to mix well with other spirits, making wonderful cocktails.
Gun Fighter American Bourbon - Double Cask
Our Double-Cask Bourbon whiskey is aged for a minimum six months in new American Oak Barrels and then finished in used French Port Barrels. This gives the whiskey a unique smoothness and complexity that can be appreciated by both the whiskey aficionado and the new whiskey drinker.
Bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV), and with an attractive price, Gun FIghter American Bourbon Whiskey - Double Cask is the ideal bourbon for both on-premise and off premise customers alike, providing a premium bourbon at an affordable price. 

​Gun Fighter 13 Tennessee Bourbon
Gun Fighter 13 Tennessee Bourbon is over 13 years old … aged in new American white oak casks for over 13 years. Gun Fighter 13 is an incredibly smooth and full bodied whiskey that will appeal to the most discerning whiskey drinker. Each cask is separately bottled at 50% ABV.

​Golden Moon Amer dit Picon
Golden Moon Amer dit Picon is produced using the finest hand-selected herbs, spices and botanicals available. We have recreated the original processes and acquired the original type of ingredients used by legendary distiller Gaetan Picon to create his amer (bitters) in the 1830’s. Bottled at 78 Proof, Golden Moon Amer dit Picon is the perfect ingredient for the legendary Picon Punch, the Brittany cocktail, and a host of other classic cocktails. It can also be enjoyed by itself.

Golden Moon Crème de Violette
Golden Moon Crème de Violette is distilled using the finest hand-selected botanicals available, including blue violet flowers and buds. We bottle our product at 30% Alcohol by Volume, higher than any other similar product on the market. We use less sugar than any other similar product on the market as well, typically about one fourth as much. We believe that the combination of a higher proof and less sugar allows for a cleaner, fresher taste, making Golden Moon Crème de Violette an wonderful classic cocktail ingredient that can also be enjoyed by itself.

​Golden Moon Kümmel
Golden Moon Kümmel is the first spirit developed by Robbie Cunningham, one of Golden Moon's assistant distillers. Robbie discovered Kümmel while working at the venerated St. Andrews Golf Club, Scotland, where many believe the game of golf originated. In Scotland, Kümmel is known as the "Putting Mixture" and it is a favorite spirit of the members of some of the oldest and most famous golf clubs in the country. It is rumored that more Kümmel is consumed in the club houses of St. Andrews, Prestwick and Muirfield golf clubs than any other place in the world.

​Apple Jack
Golden Moon Apple Jack is distilled from a blend of Colorado-grown cider apples. We work with the cidery to begin processing the cider for distillation at the point where the apples are crushed. We pitch yeast for fermentation as the apples come out of the crusher and then transfer the cider back to the distillery where it is allowed to ferment. This insures that we capture the freshness of the fruit in our final product. Once fermentation is completed we distill the cider to make a traditional American-style apple brandy or Apple Jack. This is then lightly oak-aged and bottled.
Port Cask Reserve Gin
2014's reserve gin was conditioned in wet port casks from one of the top port-style wine producers in Napa Valley, California.
Using freshly emptied wet port casks made from French oak from the Limousin forest results in a gin with a totally unique flavor, a wonderful rose-red color and a silky-smooth mouth feel.
Due to the limited availability of these casks and the need to use only wet untreated port casks we were only able to produce 600 bottles this season. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Gun Fighter American Rye - Double Cask
Our Double-Cask Rye whiskey is aged for a minimum six months in new american oak barrels and then finished in used French Port Barrels. This gives the Whiskey a unique smoothness and complexity coupled with a nice Rye spiciness.

Golden Moon Principium
Golden Moon Principium is distilled from 100% malted barley, grown in Colorado and the surrounding states, and malted in Golden, Colorado. It is mashed, fermented, distilled at Golden Moon distillery, and aged in New American Oak casks. It is then bottled at 46% ABV (92 Proof). Golden Moon Principium is a uniquely Colorado Whiskey.
Golden Moon Principium has a warm, sweet and malty nose characteristic. Great malt character on the palate, with a nice sweetness, caramel notes, and a spiciness on the finish.
REDUX Absinthe
REDUX Absinthe is the product of years of research using an extensive library of rare distillation texts, coupled with the tasting and testing of rare vintage Absinthes. The result is a premium Absinthe that is both a classic traditional Absinthe Verte, and a unique new creation at the same time. 
REDUX Absinthe is made using the finest herbs and spices from around the world, all carefully selected and processed using the artisanal small-batch methods that were used by premium Absinthe distillers in the 1890s during the height of the Belle Epoque era. 
Golden Moon Dry Curacao
​Golden Moon Dry Curacao is distilled using Curacao orange peel. We then add a touch of saffron and lightly oak age the liqueur giving it both a wonderful color and a smooth flavor. This makes Golden Moon Dry Curacao a great cocktail ingredient that can also be enjoyed neat or over ice. 

​Golden Moon Ex Gratia
Based on a description of a spirit listed in an executioner's notebook from the 1580's, Ex Gratia is a style of liqueur known as Génépi. Génépi is made from herbs including wormwoods that grow in the alpine regions of Europe. What makes Ex Gratia different from other Génépi is that it contains several exotic herbs and spices including "Black Spice", an Asian herb that was highly prized during the middle-ages in Europe and the Middle East. This type of spirit was used by apothecaries for a variety of purposes and was typically given by executions to the condemned as a last act of kindness... to all but those guilty of the most heinous of crimes. 
Golden Moon Grappa
​ Golden Moon Colorado Grappa is distilled from the pomace (grape crushings) left over from the wine making process. Our pomace comes from select Colorado wineries and each batch of grappa is made using a single grape varietal from a single vineyard. We pick up the grapes from the wineries as they are being removed from the wine press, take them to the distillery and immediately begin processing them to insure that we capture the freshness of the fruit in our final product.
