Small batch, locally sourced, non-GMO BItters + Syrups + Tonics made by hand with love in New Orleans, Louisiana. El Guapo was originally founded by Scot Mattox, a talented local bartender at a popular upscale (but since shuttered) restaurant in the French Quarter where he often experimented with his own bitters and syrups behind the bar. At the urging of Ann Tuennerman, founder of Tales of The Cocktail (the world’s largest cocktail convention based right here in New Orleans), Scot began selling his creations. After starting small with a cottage industry license, cobbling together batches of product using his home kitchen, he gained a cult following of fellow bartenders, distillers and restaurateurs large enough to expand into a commercially approved, FDA regulated production kitchen.
Searching for a change of pace after years in the business, Scot sold his interest in the company to a friend and longtime wholesale partner. Scot now handles new product development while logistics, production and daily operations are handled by a small team of local bar nerds.

HICORY PECAN BITTERS
The quintessential taste of New Orleans, our chicory pecan bitters are one of our most sought after products. Made with freshly roasted Congregation Coffee located a stone's throw from our office, these aromatic bitters pack a punch with flavors of coffee, chicory, pecan and cinnamon. Winner: 2018 Good Food Awards "Instantly upgrade any rum or bourbon cocktail with a few drops of this addictive elixir, made with Louisiana pecans & locally roasted chicory coffee." - Coastal Living, October 2017 Pairing: A nice complement to bourbon and rum, but surprisingly delightful with tequila! Try this in your next old fashioned, or hop on the tiki drink bandwagon with this unique flavor profile. These are especially popular with coffee connoisseurs. Non-GMO Vegetarian Paleo Friendly No Sugar Added 100 mL CUCUMBER LAVENDER BITTERS
Summer in a glass, our cucumber lavender bitters are a refreshing addition to lighter cocktails. Subtle notes of lemon and mint complement the primary flavors of cucumber and lavender in the bottle. Pairing: Equally at home in a variety of gin, vodka, tequila and rum based cocktails - we're particularly fond of using these in our Pimm's Cup recipe. Non-GMO Vegetarian Paleo Friendly No Sugar Added 100 mL SPICED COCOA TEA BITTERS
A labor of love, these bitters are made with naturally and traditionally grown, fermented, dried, and stone ground cacao and spices from St. Lucia and local produce from New Orleans - then aged in LA1 Whiskey barrels from Donner-Peltier Distillers in Thibodaux. Extreme chocolate notes are complemented by lighter spices and oaky whiskey with a bitter finish and light tingling sensation drawn out from the local cayenne peppers. These bitters capture the essence of traditional Cocoa Tea and pay homage to that drink's lineage from the xocolatl drinks of ancient Central America and the mole sauces made there now. This is everything you want your chocolate bitters to be. Pairing: These work well with all liquors, but we're especially fond of using them with whiskey, rum, and tequila. They're a popular flavor addition for tiki style drinks, along with manhattans, an old fashioned and even milk punch. Non-GMO Vegetarian Paleo Friendly No Sugar Added 100 mL FUEGO BITTERS
Created with Texas and Mexico in mind, these bitters are sour and spicy, with notes of grapefruit, lime, cilantro, jalapeno and cumin. Pairing: These bitters were made to pair with tequlia, but they play well with other liquors too. Use in almost any spicy or savory cocktail recipe, we love these in our nightly fresquilas (Fresca + Tequila + a few dashes of Fuego bitters). Non-GMO Vegetarian Paleo Friendly No Sugar Added 100 mL POLYNESIAN KISS BITTERS A Polynesian Kiss is a traditional greeting in which two people press together their noses and foreheads at the same time. We pay homage to the culture of the South Pacific with this recipe, that features big kisses of passion fruit, guava, pineapple and coconut alongside exotic floral notes and spices. Pairing: This bitter is designed to amplify and enhance any tropical style drink. Use a few dashes in any daiquiri, mai tai, margarita or tiki recipe, or experiment with aged spirits recipes. Non-GMO Vegetarian Paleo Friendly No Sugar Added 100 mL CLASSIC ALMOND ORGEAT SYRUP Rich, creamy and ever so slightly floral, our traditional almond orgeat is old world in style. Perfect in Mai Tai and classic absinthe suissesse recipes, we most frequently use our orgeat in brandy and bourbon milk punch recipes. Add some to your next batch of eggnog for a refreshing twist on this classic flavor profile! Finest Mai Tai: 1 part light & dark rum 1 part fresh lime juice 1/2 part orange curacao 1/2 part El Guapo orgeat Shake with crushed ice. Pour unstrained. Garnish with lime shell and sprig of mint. Non-GMO Gluten Free Vegetarian 8.5 oz or 16.5 oz CREOLE PECAN ORGEAT SYRUP A variation of traditional almond orgeat, we make our creole orgeat with natural Louisiana cane sugar and Louisiana pecans toasted in cast iron skillets. This syrup is fresh and effervescent with notes of orange and rose. This syrup is perfect for any Mai Tai or old fashioned recipe. We're known to add these to milk punches, and it's also a favorite for both warm and chilled holiday cocktails. Add some in your next batch of eggnog!
